Krapivenskiy pereulok

Walking down Petrovskiy boulevard, turn right and plunge into the secret Moscow. The odd building circling the small bell-church has its own long story. It was constructed by S.K. Rodionov in 1887-1892 for the Constantinople patriarchal metochion. Its colorful bricks resemble the Muslim mosaic and talk about the Byzantine past. Just before revolution this building consisted of commercial apartments and after 1918 it became communal and was never renovated.
I hear it told, that even today 11 families don't want to quit it and move to the dormitory district, but Patriarchate cannot start the restoration when someone is living inside.
